Third Entry: Auschwitz-Berkinau Concentration Camp, Poland

I'm sure we would have spent more time here, but the train was not on the scheduled track. However, we met a nice couple from South America who were filming a documentary that I will report on when it is released. We took a guided tour of the entire area and made it back on the last train of the day to Krakow.

The infamous sign..."work makes one free"

Escape was next to impossible if one had the energy to attempt it due
to the systematic starvation.

Execution wall

~The cell where St. Maximillian Kolbe starved to death is also noted with a memorial.
He took the place of a man who hoped to return to his family. The man survived to
go back to his family and attend the canonization of the priest who gave his
life for him.
This is a HUGE place.
